Iceland is our first destination on our escapade. June-August is the only period of the year where most places are open and available to visit and with its growing popularity, we decided to seize the chance now to discover it. Sleeping options are relatively limited and the most popular AirBnBs and hotels were already majorly booked when I booked the details in November last year. So here is our itinerary:
- July 9th arrive in Reykjavik
- July 10th early am off to Skogar by bus
- July 11th head off the legendary Laugavegur trek, departing from the famous Skògafoss waterfalls up to Landmannalaugar. That’s 92km and we’re planning on finishing it on July 14th. Chop chop!
- Back to Reykjavik by bus, sleep over and rent our car. Departure back South on July 15th, heading to Nupar at the foot of the gorgeous Vatnajökull National Park.
- July 17: off to Lake Myvàtn on the far North East of the island
- July 18th: further North West, we will spend 3 days in a cute little AirBnB in the middle of nowhere, in Olafsfjördur
- July 21st: open
- July 22: one more day in Reykjavik
- July 23rd morning: back to Geneva for 20 hours before the BIG departure!
